City Hope Church Purchases First Building, Will Launch Sunday Services in Franklin on October 4

Growing congregation establishes a permanent home while expanding its commitment to serving Franklin, Springboro and surrounding communities

FRANKLIN, Ohio — City Hope Church will begin holding Sunday services in its new home at 1455 E. Second Street in Franklin on October 4, 2026, marking a major milestone for a congregation that has spent the past several years meeting in rented spaces while searching for a permanent location.

For City Hope, the move is about more than a building. The new location places the church closer to many of the communities it already serves and creates new opportunities to meet both spiritual and practical needs throughout the region.

"We're grateful for what God has provided, but we're even more excited about what this location allows us to do," said Lead Pastor Steve Schick. "We want to know our neighbors, love our community and be a source of hope and practical help when people need it."

Since launching in Springboro in 2019, City Hope has expanded its ministry throughout the area. In 2025, the church established a Giving Garden that donates 100% of its produce to the Franklin Food Pantry, and leaders plan to continue growing our support efforts. The church also supports outreach to people experiencing homelessness in downtown Dayton through ministries led by members of the congregation.

Rather than arriving with predetermined solutions, church leaders say their goal is to listen, build relationships and partner with others already serving the community.

"We want to find ways to serve alongside people who are already doing good work here," Schick said. "We believe the church should be a place where people can find hope in Christ and experience the practical love of Christ through the way we care for our neighbors."

The church also plans to expand volunteer efforts that assist low-income and elderly homeowners with property maintenance, cleanup and minor repairs. Leaders see opportunities to support the City of Franklin's long-term vision by contributing to strong neighborhoods, healthy families and an improved quality of life for residents.

Located on approximately 1.73 acres along State Route 73 near Interstate 75, the 21,000-square-foot facility includes a worship center seating more than 300 people, classrooms for children and students, fellowship space, offices, and indoor and outdoor play areas.

The church began around kitchen tables and living-room couches with a simple conviction: Jesus changes lives, the Bible can be trusted, and no one is too far gone to be welcomed. Leaders say that mission remains unchanged as City Hope establishes roots in Franklin.

"A building doesn't make a church. People do," Schick said. "We want this to be a place where people can find hope, build relationships and know they are welcome."

City Hope will continue serving the Springboro area while expanding its presence in Franklin and surrounding communities. The church will hold its first Sunday services at the new campus on October 4 at 9:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

"October 4 is an important day for us, but we're thinking about what comes after that," Schick said. "We want to meet our neighbors, serve our community and be a place where people know they belong."
